When Can I Come Back?

The goverment have decided that children are not safe in London. Major cities are being heavily bombed. Our children are at risk and for their protection they will be sent to a safe place in a country side. This is an immediate plan. Although it is recognised that the evacuated children will be scared this is a difficult decision but they need to be sent to countryside and will be protected and supported by a host family.

One of the parents Angela Lawrence aged 36 said " I was there, I saw the whole thing lot of children crying, and they didn't want to leave. One of my own children got evacuated. Sorry I cannot say no more it is too painful!"

A local teacher Sarah Garwood aged 22 said "It was horrible when my class of childern got evacuated. The memory will always be in my heart. I want my children back.

The Blind Eyed Market.

BREAKING NEWS
Last night some smugglers started to steal goods from local shops such as the butchers and small supermarkets. They have been selling them in a secret market called The Black Market. The customers would buy the goods in London and take them back to their air raid shelters.

Although the Black Market is illegal many people use it, for example land army women needed their clothing points to obtain their uniforms. We have a witness who works in the Black Market this is what he has to say."We often bought up other peoples coupons. If someone didn't like butter, we got hold of their ration coupons straight away, shop keepers just turned A BLIND EYE!!!".This is happening because there is not enough food to eat. So they have been stealing lots of goods.

Without the Black Market the people would have starved by now, but you would do anything to live legal or not. Thank you for reading this article. Good luck through this toxic war.

BRITAINS WORST NIGHTMARE!!!

The Nazis have started attacking Britain by bombing most of the major cities, because they think this will make Britain surrender. This is called the Blitz.

The Blitz is a shortened form of a word "Blitkrieg," which originates from Germany; which means "lighnting war." Soon after the first raid on London, the German air force began bombing ports, factories and towns in South Wales and Merseyside. But these are well defended with RAF fighters and anti-aircraft guns. The first was Coventry to be bombed on the night of 14th of November, more than four hundred
German Bombers flew over the cities. Fire Brigade washes Britains worst nightmare away.

These are the available shelters so far:

There is the Anderson shelter which was dug in their back yard.
The Morrison shleter is made from corrugated metal built together.
They will go to the nearby underground stations.

The eyewitness's name is Billy aged 39 who was caught up in last nigt's bombing.
He had said, "when me and my wife got out of the Anderson Shelters we saw our
house was destroyed and devastated, with an un exploded bomb inside.

The Germans are wrong to think that we'll give up.
We will win this war.

Women at war

Mens Work, Mens Pay For Women!

The time has come for the number of women workers to doubled. This is done to replace men who go to war to fight. Taking over from the men, women are shown how to opperate the machinery that makes hand-held machine guns, farms and all the other jobs men did. they did many jobs such as; mechanics, engineers, tank drivers, building ships and many more.

Although women do men jobs they do not recive men wages. A young girl 26 workes in the factories says "I really like it at work because it gives us something to do."Another women 22 says "I dont like working in the farm I am worn out the smell is as bad as a swamp."

Some women hope they can still work in their new jobs but some women cant wait till they go back to being housewives. The scientists say ot should be all over by christmas.Women hope they can work as hard as the soldiers in the war.

The Blitz

Bombing Blitz
Last night at 6pm the Germans started another terrifying assault over North london. Thousands of people ran into their air raid shelters at the sound of the sirens to escape the bombing.
Bombings continued throughout the night.
Mr Williams, a retired fireman said "as I was running towards the bunker I was surrounded by smoke and flames. I could hear screams and bombs exploding, it was terrifying. When I left the bunker in the morning my whole street was demolished."
The Government will have to get more hospitals and medical staff to deal with the injured.

Smuggle Struggles

Many food robberies have taken place around many parts of Britain, for the past few months. This is called the Black Market. Remaining foods have been sold by smugglers at high prices.

55 million tonnes of food have been imported to Britain and many other countries. The Germans are bombing supplies with submarines and planes. Smugglers have stolen remains. This has caused most shops to close down. The Black Market is illegal but people have started using it.The punishments are heavy fines and imprisonment. This has been well recognised at the beggining of the war. East London are beginning to get into the Black Market buisness. They have done this to get money from hungry people. To make out the shortage of bananas, housewives started making banana dishes. Ayoung man, who works in the Black Market said "We often bought up other peoples coupons. If someone didn't like butter,I got hold of their rations straight away.Shopkeepers turned a blind eye, but that wasn't really the Black Market. That was getting hold of things you weren't meant to. It was very possible because there were shady looking men in raincoats, who could find anything. When I was seriously ill in hospital, my brother-in-law got an orange for me. I don't know where from. I was given food by other paitents."

They Goverment have noticed this issue and are planning to put a stop to it. What will happen next?

Blackout

Lights Out For Britain!!!
The last few weeks has been the hardest period for Britain and its people. Everyone has been turning out their lights to prevent the Germans from seeing where to bomb.
People of Britain have been asked to cover their windows and doors at night with heavy blackout curtains, cardboard or paint. We will need to stop any glimmer of light escaping because this will help enemy aircrafts. Street lights will be switched off or dimmed and shielded to deflect the beam down to the floor. People of Britain will have to walk facing the traffic. To help men, please keep your shirt tails hanging out so you can be seen by dimmed head-lights. During the hours of darkness we will have wordaens making sure the blackout was put into action. Any lights that might be seen from are wordens will be forced to be put out and we will not be allowing any smoking in the open.
Pauline,a mother of two said, "It's been hard during the blackout because we have to make dinner earlier than usual before all the lights have to get turned off". Mary, Paulines daughter said, "The blckout has been as dark as a lions cage".
Worden officers will still be on the alert every night until futher notice. The blackout shall be going on until we have found a solution.

Operation Pied Piper Petrifies Parents

The terrible Blitz has forced millions of civilians to flee to the countryside where it is much safer.

Children being evacuated

Children and many other people are being evacuated, not just by train but by road also. They are being evacuated to smaller towns and villages in the countryside. Some children are sent to stay with relatives but others are sent to stay with complete strangers.

Maria, a thirteen year old girl, said "It was a terrifying experience leaving my mother at such short notice. We travelled by train and it was quite a long journey. I could hardly breathe. When we arrived at Wales, I was the last child to be chosen by a host family. In the end, I was chosen by a tall, healthy looking lady. But I soon found out that she was very cruel. When I got to the house she told me to take my clothes off. But when I refused, she tore off my clothes and I was forced to go into the Kitchen. Then, I was shoved into a tin batth which contained Dettol in it. Then my host father shaved my head until I was bald. The experience of evacuation has made my life a misery."

Experts suggest that by the end of the Second World War, 3.5 million citizens, mainly children, would have experienced evacuation.

Soldiers in World War II

What a tough life!

What a tough life for our men on the front line.
Every man and boy from Great Britain has been told they have to join up, even some as young as 14. A Goverment spokesman told us,"Although we have 875,000,many more are needed as the Germans seem to be multiplying in numbers".
Many boys and men are afraid to join up as they are scared of never returning. They have also heard about all the heavy kit they have to carry.
This includes Mess tin, tinned ration, extra iron ration, spare socks and laces. They also carried a Lee Enfield rifle ;Greanades and gas mask.
Food ration tin included: oatmeal, meat, Biscuits, tea, chcolate and boiled sweets. All in all it weighs 25kg!
A mother who's son has gone to war said: "I am missing my boy. I am so worried about him but I am also proud."
"It is crazy how much they have to carry, the pack weighs more than he does."
All though these terrible times are ahead and our Father sons, uncles and cousins have to go, to whole of Britain is behind them 100% and all pray for safe ruturn.
Victory for the Allied forces is in sight, but we need more men in our forces.
Come on Bitain, help us win.

Women at War

Overworked And Underpaid Women

Women working in the factories are saying they're being underpaid and are overworked. On September 10th over a quarter of a million women died of hard labour ship.

"Life in wartime seemed dreadful. Short of fuel, food, heat and constant danger every night.", said 21 year old Lucy.
"We are Overworked and underpaid. Some of us just can't cope with this terrible hard labour.", said 23 year old Mary who works in the factories.

Some women don't mind being under they say the care more about the men, but some women need the money for their children to have enough food for the week.

Women are still working and are being underpaid but the prime minister says he will assure that this underpaying work will STOP and that the money the women are being will RISE!
